Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has described as false, malicious and misleading of a news going viral on social media platforms that read “INEC renews contract for PVC, Card readers to company linked to Tinubu and Gov Sanni Bello, APC chieftain”.
Governor Sani Bello in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mrs Mary Noel-Berje said he is neither a contractor with the electoral umpire nor shares ownership of a company with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate and former Governor of Lagos State Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He expressed concern on how some people have chosen to use social media platforms for negativity, making every effort to malign the reputation of others.
The Governor who maintained that he won the Governorship election in Niger state twice without having to do any contract with INEC, wondered how something that has never existed can be renewed.
“I contested for Governorship and won in 2015 and I am now finishing my second term, all these without having any contract with the electoral umpire, how then can a contract that has never been done with someone be renewed?
“While it baffles me what the originator of this lie tends to achieve, it is really disturbing that some politicians have become desperate and are trading on dangerous paths in their quest for power and most worrisome are the people aiding in circulating unverified information”, he stated.
He enjoined the general public to disregard the information as it is completely false but rather remained focused and prepared for the 2023 general elections to vote for the right candidates and not desperate politicians.
