Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has described the foreign travels of President Muhammadu Buhari for 10 days to New York, to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77) and that of his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, at the weekend, for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth ll in United Kingdom as disconcerting.

In a statement, the group said their combined absence “shows a nation on auto-pilot since 2015.”

It stated that the “decision of the President and Vice President to both depart the shores of the country at a time of hyperinflation and worrying state of insecurity shows that the current administration does not care about the wellbeing and welfare of the populace, but the duo are simply after satisfying their insatiable tastes for globetrotting and epicurean tendencies.”
