Constituents in Anambra central of Anambra State, have sworn to mobilise the electorate in their communities to vote against the Senatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Victor Umeh in 2023, despite his attempts to associate with the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.
The constituents drawn from the seven local government areas under the aegis of “Grassroots Frontiers for Good Governance” (GFGG) made the pledge in a communique issued on Monday.
According to its Coordinator, Comrade Ikechi Nwaneri , the Constituents have observed the futile attempts by Umeh to ride on the popularity of Peter Obi in order to benefit from the votes accrued to Labour Party in the 2023 General elections.
During the press briefing held at Awka the state capital Ikechi noted with dismay efforts by Umeh to abuse the intelligence of the good people of Anambra Central by hobnobbing with Peter Obi so as to secure their mandate for his election.
Describing Umeh’s plan as dead on arrival, Nwaneri reminded the Victor Umeh who is also a former Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) that the constituents and Anambrarians are well informed to differentiate between Peter Obi and Umeh at the polls.
He explained that despite Umeh’s Antics the people of Anambra Central haven’t forgotten the countless times Umeh as Chairman of APGApublicly called Peter Obi all sorts of derogatory names and made spurious allegations to taint the image of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate. Nwaneri pointed out that till date Victor Umeh is yet to clear his name from the series of financial misappropriation and abuse of office during his time in APGA.
The Group’s coordinator stressed though they are not opposed to Peter Obi’s Presidential aspiration, he however urged the Labour Party Presidential Candidate and the “Obedient” group to dissociate themselves from Victor Umeh.
“Obi is not contesting the Anambra central senatorial election, he is the best presidential material. Those fighting at Anambra central senatorial zone should leave Obi out of their kpolakpo politics.
“There’s no hypocrite anywhere today other than Victor Umeh, who has continued to bring himself to ridicule all because of politics.In every election, the unelectable Victor Umeh will look for sympathy and emotional support; such was his stock trading while in APGA, and he has continued in such deception and criminality today.
“Victor Umeh has no goodwill to his name and character, and that is why he is unelectable. Instead, during elections he will rush to follow any available trends, hoping to get into the National Assembly with emotional sympathy.
Recalling how Victor Umeh used the name of Lt. Chukwuemeka Ojukwu to play selfish politics and fleece political leaders, Nwaneri stated that Victor Umeh had wished that the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu die in detention but was quick to change sides since the ruling of the Appeal Court which discharged Nnamdi Kanu of all charges.
“He was visiting Ojukwu graveyard like a leprous person. He acted in so many scripts with Dim Ojukwu’s name just to get the sympathy of the people to win the election. Today he has left Dim Ojukwu’s grave after promising he would never leave APGA. He is now running after Nnamdi Kanu.
“Victor Umeh was amongst those who wished Kanu would die in detention. He may have made several moves behind the scenes for Kanu to remain in detention, but now that the appeal court has reportedly discharged him, the useless Umeh has rushed to the media to change his stand, hoping to get the sympathy of the IPOB people to support his failed Senate ambition.
“This was the same way Umeh never allowed Dim Odumegwu to Rest In Peace. He was at his graveyard every now and then reporting Peter Obi and everyone to Ojukwu’s grave, leading the match past before Ojukwu’s status. Today, he has run away from APGA to the Labour Party. Nnamdi Kanu is now the new messiah, Nwaneri Stated.
