… As key stakeholders of Enugwu-ukwu hosts Senator to an interactive meeting…

The pride of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra Central Senatorial District popularly addressed as Madam Project by her constituents, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife Ph.D (Iyom) has singled out tangible achievements as the essence of entrusting politicians with public mandate.

Speaking to key stakeholders during a well attended meeting organized by party faithfuls in the area on Sunday, the workaholic senator made it clear that in accounting for his or her stewardship after each tenure, a senator should be able to present a scorecard of tangible achievements before seeking for another cycle.

Proper evaluation of stewardship must contain evidence of proper review, monitoring, and supervision of federal agencies, programs and policy implementation, as well as satisfactory record of community driven projects facilitated by the lawmaker.

While describing her chances over other contestants ahead of the 2023 general election, the incumbent senator and PDP flag bearer for Anambra Central senatorial zone urged voters to concentrate on electing people who has shown commitment to the mandates given to them on trust.

She said that politicians who have failed to deliver quality leadership in the past should no longer be considered for elective positions, to serve as a deterrent to prospective political office aspirants who might con the electorate into electing them, only to disappoint them after assuming office.

“There is no room for promotion of those who have failed. Our national assembly is not for people who lack the credibility to positively impact their constituency. Someone who failed in contribution on the floor, failed in attraction of developmental projects and failed in generation of employment, what is he now going there to do?” she queried.

“I have also been in the House of Representatives for 8 years so those who want to upgrade from the House of Reps to the Senate should also show performance and what they’ve been able to attract at that level, because someone cannot fail in class and get promoted.

“If the shoes I left in the House of Reps is too big for those who occupy the place presently, then I wonder what they intend to achieve at the upper chamber knowing that the senate is not for small boys,” she stated.

The echo was thunderous as the people unanimously answered “Ekwunife 2023! No vacancy in Anambra Central!” and on their own went ahead listing the senator’s developmental footprints within the community and environs, after which they resolved to mobilize support for her reelection, noting that she has given them enough reasons not to doubt her campaign promises, having fulfilled and surpassed the ones she made in the past, just as her records of employment and empowerment remains unparalleled.
