In a bid to commit the 2023 general elections campaign season to God, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has organised a special prayer session for her re-election project.

Amidst praise and thanksgiving, the session which began with Holy Mass was held at Senator Uche Ekwunife Event Centre Awka and was officiated by Rev. Fr. Henry Oduenyi who was assisted by Rev. Frs. Stephen Okeke and Fidelis Odinukwe. The occasion was well graced by stakeholders from across the seven LGAs in the zone.

In his homily, the clergy preached on the importance of hard work, reminding Christians that there is no short cut to success. He charged the people of God to imbibe the spirit of hard work and perseverance.

Continuing, Fr. Oduenyi extolled Ekwunife’s sterling legislative achievements and stated that she has continued to bring succour to the constituents particularly the less privileged.

Speaking shortly after the Mass, Ekwunife explained that the prayer session was a practice of always commencing every campaign cycle with a prayer session, urging constituents to always take prayer seriously.

The lawmaker stressed that the significance of the session was that God has ordained victory over her senatorial ambition. She expressed that she has performed extraordinarily well in the National Assembly to get re-elected.

“Our hope is that this election will be peaceful and credible, it’s the reason we are gathered here to seek God’s intervention,  it doesn’t matter the party that you belong to. We all need to seek God’s face as we approach the elections. I put my trust in God , my people and my achievements judging by the key developmental projects which with your support I have been able to facilitate for you within the last three years. These are projects that can be visibly seen in  communities,  we have also been able to sponsor notable bills and motions and by your mandate we can do more , Ekwunife expressed.

Commenting on the general elections, the Senator known for expediting key developmental projects to every community in her zone assured party stakeholders that she is eager, desirous and prepared for the election. She noted that she is going into the election with a compilation of her achievements and without any shadow of doubt that she would emerge victorious.

While appreciating the clergymen for their presence, the Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation reiterated that PDP will approach the general elections with a united front. She stated that she would not succumb to the cheap blackmail of the opposition who have nothing to campaign with.

In his remarks, the PDP National Auditor, Okechukwu Obi Daniel described prayer as the key to achieve everything, re-echoing the party’s readiness to kick-start the campaign and asked people to vote PDP. 

Mr. Okechukwu described Ekwunife as an Amazon of the senate whose visionary and people-centered representation cut across the length and breadth of the zone. He assured that he would mobilize support to ensure that Ekwunife is returned to the National Assembly.

On his part, Hon. Emeka Eze assured that the majority of the constituents are solidly behind Ekwunife who is better known as Ifekaolaedo. He said that stakeholders were happy to commence the electioneering with God.

Hon. Eze, who is the PDP candidate for Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia federal constituency promised to work closely with Ekwunife to achieve victory for the party. According to him, any endeavour we begin with prayer is always crowned with success.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. Oduenyi and his Anglican counterpart, Rev’d Chibuzo Chinyeaka led a special prayer for the successful and peaceful campaign of Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organisation.

Notably present at the gathering were the Immediate-Past PDP State Chairman, Hon Ndubuisi Nwobu, PDP Candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Hon Emeka Igwe, former commissioner for lands, survey and planning, Hon KG Enemuo, Traditional Prime Minister of Enugwu-Ukwu and Prominent Party Stakeholder, Chief Dennis Anekwe, Chief Felix Oli, former Chairman of ASUBEB, Associate-Professor Rose Nwankwo, 4 former chairmen of PDP, former DG Standard organization of Nigeria (SON) Dr Ikem Odumodu, former commissioner for Education, Dr Uju Okeke, President General of Nri Kingdom, Chief Dr Kelvin Obiegbunam, High-ranking stakeholder of the party in Dunukofia LGA, Hon Izuchukwu Obi, several stakeholders, Chairmen of the party in the 7-LGAs, amongst other party faithful and supporters of the Senator.
